Medication check
Aim of the check
Many patients take combinations that have grown over years. The check asks which drugs still have a clear indication, where duplications or interactions sit, and whether simplification is reasonable.
Do I really need all the medicines I take? Do they interact with one another? Can I stop one or more of them, or are combination products available?
Medical treatment and medication side effects are an underestimated cause of death. One should therefore not assume that "more therapy is better". The opposite can be true: medicines may interact, or cause side effects that then require further medicines. Recognising this takes experience and competence, so that unnecessary, outdated or dangerous drugs can be stopped. All too often a treatment once started is continued without thought – unfortunately, often until the bitter end.
When an appointment is useful
Reasons include new symptoms after a change, dizziness, blood-pressure swings, planned surgery, a change of practice, or the question whether a drug is still needed.

A current medication list including self-medication, supplements and drops, recent blood-pressure and laboratory values, and discharge letters. Without a complete list the review remains incomplete.

Limits of this offering
Changes are made only after weighing benefits and in agreement with you. External databases can provide hints but do not replace clinical judgement. Stopping drugs without discussion is not the aim of this check.
