Blood sample illustrating extended laboratory diagnostics

Blood tuning

What blood tuning means here

A statutory or routine blood panel checks selected basic values and often answers only a limited question. Blood tuning can add groups relevant to fatigue, prevention, micronutrient status or cardiovascular risk. Results are interpreted in consultation, not from the lab printout alone. A value inside the reference range does not automatically mean it is appropriate for your situation.

What is reviewed

Dr. Hierl decides which laboratory groups are useful after the consultation. Typical building blocks that can be combined:

  • Basic values: blood count, kidney and liver tests, blood glucose and blood lipids
  • Vitamins and minerals where the clinical question supports them
  • Inflammation markers
  • Hormones if symptoms or prior findings suggest them
  • Cardiovascular markers, for example extended lipid parameters

The scope is individual. An unremarkable result does not rule out disease; an abnormal value is not yet a diagnosis.

When an extended analysis may be useful

Typical reasons include persistent fatigue without a clear cause, prevention beyond a standard blood panel, athletic load with questions about performance, or planning an infusion or micronutrient therapy. Whether laboratory tests are needed, and to what extent, is decided at the examination. The analysis does not replace a full internal-medicine work-up.

Procedure

The sequence is fixed: first measure, then adjust, then measure again.

  • Consultation on symptoms, medicines, prior conditions and the clinical question
  • Blood draw in the practice; fasting may be required depending on the parameters
  • Results discussion with interpretation of the values
  • Targeted measures such as nutrition, micronutrients, further diagnostics or treatment where medically justified
  • Follow-up measurement after an agreed interval to see whether the values have changed

Cost and time depend on the chosen panel and are discussed before the blood draw. Statutory health insurers often reimburse extended laboratory profiles only in part or not at all; private cover depends on the policy.

Relation to Anti-Aging / Longevity

Telomere length and the longevity programme are a separate offering. Details are on the Anti-Aging / Longevity page.
