Vascular check
What is examined
Do I already have deposits or calcification in my vessels? We examine the condition of your blood vessels gently using pulse-wave analysis (augmentation index) and high-resolution ultrasound. This is done without contrast agents or X-rays. You receive an evaluation that shows your "vascular age" compared with the population average, plus precise instructions on how to care for your vessels. If vascular damage is already present, we develop an individual therapy that is not limited to statins and ASA.
In advanced atherosclerosis, Hylase therapy has proven particularly useful. It is an infusion treatment that acts systemically and can benefit vessels throughout the body. You can find more information here.
Who the vascular check is for
Reasons include known atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, raised lipids, leg circulation problems, dizziness with suspected neck-artery changes, or questions about vessel status before planned treatment.
What happens in the practice
After the history we usually perform pulse-wave analysis and high-resolution ultrasound of accessible arteries, often the carotid arteries. Contrast media and X-rays are not required. The visit is outpatient; fasting is only needed if laboratory tests are planned.
Interpreting the findings
We explain whether wall changes are visible and what they mean for daily life and follow-up. Comparisons such as a “vascular age” are orientation, not a diagnosis. If damage is already present, we discuss conservative measures and — if appropriate — complementary procedures such as hylase vascular therapy.
