Lung check
What this is about
Breathlessness can come from the heart, the lungs, anaemia, fitness, or several factors at once. The lung check places breathing function in context before more burdensome imaging is considered.
Where does my shortness of breath come from? Why do I get out of breath so quickly? Our practice offers the full range of lung-function diagnostics, including oxygen saturation. This allows us to detect a large proportion of possible lung diseases without a stressful X-ray examination. If you smoke and want to stop, we can offer effective rapid smoking cessation with a Rauchfrei-Spritze.
Who it is for
The check is useful in shortness of breath, cough, suspected asthma or COPD, long-term smoking, or when it is unclear whether the exercise limit is mainly cardiac or pulmonary.
How it runs
Typical tests are spirometry or extended lung function plus pulse oximetry. You sit and breathe through a mouthpiece. Bronchodilators or a current infection can affect the result — that belongs in the preparation. X-ray is not part of this check.
Afterwards
You learn whether the values fit age, height and sex and whether further assessment is useful. Smoking cessation is a separate offering; the lung check does not replace it.
